Awesome interview. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Wow. What a treat for you to meet Mr. Mallman! I love what he said in the Q&A, "You have a language where you exactly understand why your choice of simple is simple. If you choose simple because it's the only thing you know, it's different".

I see he loves the pants he is wearing! He is wearing the same ones in some of the photos in his cookbook. I bought his book, Seven Fires, for my husband for father's day. My husband has been reading it every day for a week. It is unusual for him to read a cookbook. He is going to make a large grill for an asado in the near future.

We both lived in Argentina for a couple of years in the early 1980's as single Christian missionaries (Mormon's), and fell in LOVE with the Argentine people and after that, the cuisine.

I lived in Longchamps, Banfield, Olavarría, Berasategui, etc. I continue to cook milanesa, empanadas, torta pasqualina, etc. I never knew that 33 layers of dough are typical for this easter meal. How beautifully symbolic.

He's lucky to have that old Larousse copy. I just finished Julia Child's book "My Life in France". It is a wonderful journey through her formative cooking years.

The Q&A was excellent. He seems just the fellow a lucky friend or family member spends hours dining and talking with in a backyard.
